Your Trinity Login Information

Your login information allows you to access a suite of online and network services, including Moodle, Self-Service, Webmail, Spam Quarantine and more. As a result, your credentials should be treated as private information. Failure to safeguard your credentials could result in termination of the account. For more details, view the Technology and Telecommunications policy.

What Is My Username?

Your username consists of your last name followed by first initial. If that username is already taken, as in the case of John Doe arriving at Trinity after Jane Doe, the username will be the last name plus the initial two letters of the first name. For example:

  • Jane Q. Doe’s username would be “DoeJ”
  • John Doe, arriving after Jane, would have the username “DoeJo”

Password Expirations

Protecting your password is an important aspect of security and confidentiality. To protect personal, business, research and academic interactions throughout the University, all staff, faculty and adjunct faculty must change their Trinity login password every 180 days. While student passwords do not expire, ITS recommends students change their password periodically.

Within 14 days of password expiration, staff, faculty and adjunct faculty will be notified the following ways:

  1. Upon logging into a Trinity workstation.
  2. When logging into webmail.
  3. A daily email alert.

Changing Your Password

To change your password, and set up your “forgot password” security questions, visit the Account Center or browse to https://myaccount.trinitydc.edu. If you ever forget your password in the future, answering these questions will allow you to reset your password.

As an alternative method to the Account Center, staff and faculty may change his or her password when logged into a Trinity workstation by pressing the CTRL + ALT + DEL keys simultaneously and then clicking on Change Password.

Password Requirements

Your password must not contain your name and cannot be reused. In addition, passwords must be a minimum of 8 characters and contain any three of the following four:

  • At least one lowercase letter

  • At least one number
  • At least one symbol

Examples of valid passwords meeting at least three of the four requirements are:

I forgot my password!

Forgotten passwords can be recovered by answering the “forgot password” security questions at the Account Center.
