Utility Assistance Programs
Short-Term
- DC’s Dept of Energy Assistance Program Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program: Eligible households may receive energy bill assistance between $250 and $1,800 as a one-time regular energy assistance benefit.
- Greater Washington Urban League: Provides up to $500 in assistance to eligible customers facing disconnection. Customers can call (202) 265-8200 or visit www.gwul.org.
- Washington Area Fuel Fund (WAFF): Founded by Washington Gas and administered by The Salvation Army, WAFF helps families who do not qualify for, or who have exhausted, government energy assistance.
- DC Community Resource Inventory: Database of different organization that provide emergency and long-term support programs.

- DC’s Dept of Energy & Environment: Utility Discount Programs (UDP): Discount programs for eligible families.
