Housing, Dining, and Other Non-Academic Accommodations

In addition to academic accommodations, DSS also work with students who may need accommodations in other non-academic settings and situations. Please review the following sections below regarding these non-academic accommodations and their processes.

Housing Accommodations 

Students seeking on-campus housing accommodations related to a disability or medical condition may apply through Disability Support Services (DSS).

Animal-Related Housing Accommodations

Students interested in pursuing on-campus animal-related housing accommodations related to a disability or medical condition may apply through Disability Support Services (DSS). This type of animal is typically known as an emotional support animal (ESA).

Dining Accommodations

Students seeking dining accommodations related to a disability or medical condition may apply through Disability Support Services (DSS).

Other Non-Academic Accommodations

Students who believe they may need a non-academic accommodation not specifically described on this page are encouraged to submit the DSS accommodation request form. DSS will review the request through an individualized process and work collaboratively with the student and relevant university offices as appropriate.

 

Process for Requesting Non-Academic Accommodation

This process includes the following steps:

  1. Submit intake disclosure request via the DSS accommodation intake form here
  2. Once the request has been submitted, supportive documentation must be provided to indicate the medical need for the accommodation. Please review documentation specifics provided above, related to the type of accommodation (housing, dining, etc.) being requested.
  3. After receiving the request and related documentation, the DSS Director will review the information and meet with the student to provide a determination and discuss next steps.
