Opportunity: Workforce Recruitment Program: Workforce Recruitment Program for College Students with Disabilities (WRP) is a resource for federal agencies and private businesses nationwide to identify qualified temporary and permanent employees from a variety of fields. Applicants are highly motivated post-secondary students and recent graduates eager to prove their abilities in the workforce. Employers seek to fill both temporary and permanent positions in a variety of fields.

Opportunity: Walmart is Hiring:  Walmart is now hiring for their new store, which is located at 310 Riggs Rd. NE (walking distance from the Ft. Totten metro).  They will be hiring 300 or more associates at the Ft. Totten store and backfilling at their Georgia Ave and H St stores.  The grand opening date has not been confirmed yet, but it will be this Fall. Totten store specifically, the store number is #3035.  They can also search by geography (ex. Washington, DC), in which case, all the available jobs at their stores throughout DC will show. They are looking for candidates who demonstrate enthusiasm, potential, and an interest in retail.  68% of their associates are DC residents!

The hiring center hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for candidates who need access to computers for the online application. The range of jobs available includes professional services, sales floor associates and supervisors, front-end cashiers, customer service, cart pushers, greeters, stockers and others. Walmart will offer a job to any eligible U.S. veteran honorably discharged from active duty since the Veterans Welcome Home Commitment launched on Memorial Day 2013.
