Health Insurance Overview
- Trinity Washington University is pleased to offer our students Student Insurance Plan Options for the academic year including access to comprehensive health care at an affordable premium, access to preferred providers for less out of pocket and an online portal to help you better manage your benefits and claims.
- When you enroll in our student insurance plan, the Health and Wellness Center’s Nurse Practitioners will serve as your Primary Care Providers, managing all of your health needs right on campus in a comprehensive setting that is convenient for you and free of charge.
- All students are required to have adequate, local health insurance coverage while they attend Trinity Washington University.
- If you are a full time CAS student you will be invited to enrolled in the student health insurance plan. If you have your own private health insurance, you can WAIVE the university-sponsored insurance plan to avoid being billed for the coverage beginning June 1, 2026 (Fall) or November 1, 2026 (Spring). If you do not take action to enroll or waive by the deadline, you will automatically be enrolled in Trinity’s Health Insurance plan.
THE DEADLINE TO ENROLL IN STUDENT INSURANCE OR SUBMIT THE WAIVER FOR FALL 2026 is Wednesday, September 2, 2026, and for SPRING 2026 is Tuesday, January 26, 2027. Use: https://trinitydc.myahpcare.com/ to enroll or waive.
Enrolled on Trinity’s Health Insurance?
Trinity’s Health Insurance and the Health Fee provide you access to the team of providers, Nurse Practitioners, and Counselors in the Health Center (Main Hall 461), with no co-pay and no cost for services, labs, and in-house prescriptions. You can manage your appointments, records, lab results, etc via the Trinity Student Health Portal at TrinityDC.studenthealthportal.com
As of August 1st, your Health Coverage is with Aetna Student Health! Aetna offers a broad network of providers and a wide array of services to support your health care needs.
To access your Aetna Student Health ID Card:
- Click here to go to the Get Your ID Card link
- Type in your Student ID, Date of Birth, and Email:

- Note: The data you enter must match what your school has provided to Aetna, otherwise you will receive an error message. If you experience issues authenticating and/or would like to verify the demographic information in Aetna’s system, please contact Aetna Customer Service at 1 (877) 480-4161.
- Available ID cards will display once you hit submit. Select the ID card you would like to receive and then click Send Email.
- Note: If you’d like to receive your ID card at an email address other than the email on file with Aetna, please select Edit and you will be prompted to enter an alternative email address.
- You will receive a secure Mimecast email with a PDF of your ID card attached. Click here for information on how to access the Mimecast secure messaging portal.
