The Health Center is hosting an event with Project Blackbird.

Destigmatizing Mental Health Through Storytelling, Connection, and Free Access to Care.

Project Blackbird is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and touring event that partners with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) to educate and reduce stigma around mental health, including eating disorders and substance use. They collaborate with campuses nationwide to bring their program to high schools, colleges, and universities.

The one-hour live event includes a screening of the award-winning short film Blackbird, followed by a panel discussion featuring actors, influencers, and professional sports mental health advocates, alongside Project Blackbird founder Alexandra Miles. The program is designed to encourage participants to confront mental health challenges and reduce feelings of shame. Attendees are also provided with campus, local, and national resources to support their mental health journey. Additionally, students ages 18 and over are offered access to one year of free therapy through Project Blackbird’s partnerships with therapy providers.

If you are in crisis, The National Suicide Hotline is open 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, and is staffed by trained professionals. Call them at 1-800-273-8255.
