Professional Development

Trinity supports the professional development efforts of our employees. Part-time faculty are invited to Campus Conversations, Trinity’s regular campus-wide town halls (on Zoom), pedagogical workshops on inclusive excellence and other teaching topics, Library activities, Trinity symposia, and many other professional activities that take place on Trinity’s campus.  In addition, adjuncts can avail themselves of individualized training by appointment on a variety of concentration areas, such as using Starfish, Trinity’s student support and retention platform, Moodle and instructional design, Library services and assistance with Open Access Resources, and much more.

Required Adjunct Training

Adjuncts are required to attend the virtual Creating a Culture of Respect: Preventing Harassment and Other HR Essentials,  complete Cybersecurity Training, and engage in additional trainings through HR training at the beginning of each academic year. Adjunct orientation sessions cover Trinity’s mission and teaching philosophy, just-in-time instructional support activities such as Managing Difficult Conversations and Recognizing Students in Distress, collegiate unit meetings, and more.  Adjunct orientations are held twice yearly, at the beginning of each semester, either virtually or in-person. For more details, please contact Michelle Burke.

Recorded versions of the Navigating Moodle Workshop for New Faculty and How To Use Starfish Trainings are also on the Resources for Faculty Page. These are required viewing for new faculty and are strongly recommended for veteran adjuncts as well!
