General Information
As a courtesy to Trinity faculty and students, the Academic Services Center (Library 103) administers makeup, retake, and special-circumstance exams for students who miss a midterm, final, or major test during the semester.
Note for Accessibility Accommodations: Students with documented disabilities and approved testing accommodations must take their exams with Disability Student Services (DSS).
Key Guidelines for Faculty
- Request Submission: Faculty must complete the Academic Test Request Form for each exam administered through the Center.
- Scheduling Approval: Once a student submits a makeup exam request, the course instructor will receive an email containing a link to approve the request and upload the exam.
- Student Identification: Students must present a valid photo ID upon arrival at Testing Services.
- Test Administration: Center staff strictly enforce all written instructions specified in the Academic Test Request Form. Please include clear guidelines regarding time limits, allowed reference materials, or permitted equipment. If complex instructions are required, attach a separate instruction sheet for the student.
- Coursework Policy: The Academic Services Center does not accept homework assignments or special projects. Please direct students to submit coursework according to your standard course policy.
Procedures
- Submit the Request: Complete and submit the online Academic Test Request Form upon receiving notification.
- Provide Details: Specify the eligible student(s), test deadline (date and time), and time limit allowed for completion.
- Attach the Exam: Upload the exam file directly within the online form.
- Ensure the instructor’s name, course title, and course number appear at the top of every exam page.
- If you experience technical issues attaching the file, email the exam directly to TestingCenter@trinitydc.edu.
- In-Person Delivery Option: If you prefer to hand-deliver hard copies of the exam, please bring them to Kimberly LaBoone (LIB 104) after completing the online request form. Please do not send exams via campus mail, as we cannot guarantee secure or timely delivery.
- Student Registration: Direct students to schedule their exam using the online Student Exam Appointment Request system.
- Lead Time: To avoid delay and allow adequate time for processing, please submit exam requests at least two (2) business days prior to the student’s requested appointment time.
- Academic Honor Code: All exams in the Center are administered under Trinity’s Academic Honor Code . Students are expected to adhere fully to the policies detailed in the Honor Code Handbook.
Retrieval of Academic Tests
To ensure academic integrity, the Center maintains strict security and confidentiality standards for all test materials.
- Digital Return: Completed exams are scanned and emailed directly to your official Trinity email address.
- Hard Copy Disposal: Once you confirm receipt of the scanned exam via email, physical copies are securely shredded.
- Pick-Up Preference: If you prefer to collect the physical exam instead of having it shredded, please notify us in advance.
- End-of-Semester Policy: If receipt confirmation is not provided, all unclaimed exam materials will be securely shredded at the end of the semester.
Evaluation
Please complete the Services Evaluation Form. It is our goal to provide the highest quality services for faculty and students so we collect data to improve our services.
Accommodations for Students with Disabilities
Students with documented disabilities requiring special testing accommodations (e.g., extended time or a reduced-distraction environment) must schedule their exams through Disability Support Services (DSS).
