Work Study – Public Health Student Assistant

Job Overview

The Public Health Student Worker will play a crucial role in supporting the daily operations and initiatives of the Public Health and Health Services Program. This position is designed for students participating in a work-study program, providing them with valuable hands-on experience in the field of public health. The student worker will assist in various tasks related to public health programs, outreach, research, and administrative duties.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Administrative
  • Prepare and organize documents, reports, and presentations.
  • Provide support in scheduling meetings, appointments, and events.
  1. Program Assistance
  • Support the implementation of public health programs and initiatives.
  • Assist in coordinating community outreach events and health education programs.
  • Compile and analyze data for program evaluation and reporting purposes.
  1. Research Assistance
  • Conduct literature reviews and gather relevant information for research projects.
  • Assist in data collection, entry, and analysis.
  • Assist with finding various internship and practicum opportunities for both the undergraduate and graduate programs.
  1. Community Engagement
  • Participate in community outreach activities to promote public health awareness.
  • Participate in various recruitment activities for the program.
  • Assist in the development of educational materials for community events.
  1. Communication and Documentation
  • Assist in drafting newsletters, social media posts, and other communication materials.
  • Document and summarize meetings, presentations, and discussions.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of the department’s online presence.

Qualifications

  • Current enrollment in health services, public health, or pre- health professions program.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
  • Interest in public health and a commitment to promoting community well-being.
