Assistant Director of Alumnae/i Engagement

Trinity Washington University seeks a dynamic, creative, and organized individual to serve as the Assistant Director of Alumnae/i Engagement. The Assistant Director of Alumnae/i Engagement will report to the Vice President of Development and work closely with the Executive Director of Alumnae/i Giving and Engagement and other members of the development and communications team to engage with alumnae and alumni of all ages and to further their engagement and philanthropic giving. This is a full-time, twelve-month position that includes occasional weekend and evening work. Position Summary

The Assistant Director of Alumnae/i Engagement plays a key role in creating and implementing a comprehensive engagement and philanthropy program for all alumnae and alumni. The primary areas of focus for this position include creating and executing dynamic programs to connect alumni both to each other and with Trinity, developing exciting and effective communications messaging, and working as a team to grow alumni engagement and giving.

Key Responsibilities

Event Development and Execution – Event planning for alumni engagement and university-wide events, virtual and in-person event logistics, volunteer and speaker management, registration, hotel, catering, and other vendor management. Conceptualize and implement new programs and events with a focus on affinity and career-based programming.

  • Engage in continual review of programs and strategies to ensure optimal ROI, efficiency, effectiveness, and quality.
  • Develop programming for and manage the 5th and 10th Reunion classes.

Communications – Utilize various media platforms and strategies (including personal outreach, social media, the alumni website, e-newsletters, and print materials) to engage with alumni consistently and thoughtfully, celebrate their achievements, and highlight opportunities for alumni involvement with Trinity and each other.

  • E-mail and direct mail communications: work with development and alumni engagement team to plan messaging and execute correspondence with alumni via e-mail, direct mail, newsletters, and other media.
  • Alumni website: develop and refresh content for all alumni webpages, utilizing WordPress web publishing application.
  • Social media: support team efforts through content development and creation of strategic multi-media campaigns to engage diverse audiences.

Fundraising – Collaborate with development team, working together to educate alumni, especially young alumni, about philanthropic giving and the importance of participation.

  • Design and implement fundraising efforts targeting alumni from the past 15 years.

 Other Alumnae/i Engagement and Outreach Duties 

  • Expand programming to welcome new graduates into the Trinity alumni family. Attend and participate in commencement activities in the winter and spring.
  • Coordinate Class Notes and In Memoriam Programs.
  • Manage Senior Class Engagement Program.
  • Collaborate with data management team to gather information about alumni to ensure accurate and complete database records and to capture contact, biographical, and career information of alumni for profiling in school communications and building networking programming.

Key Qualifications

A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in alumni relations with demonstrated success in program development and implementation, building relationships, and strengthening overall alumni engagement. Fundraising experience is a plus. Trinity graduates are strongly encouraged to apply. Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred.

  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to pivot between projects, organize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail and prioritization to meet deadlines.
  • Creative thinker with the ability to think outside of the box in developing new programs or recommending possible changes to current programs and events.
  • A high level of integrity and strong work ethic.
  • Experience with Raiser’s Edge (preferred) or a similar constituent database.
  • Experience with WordPress a plus.
  • Ability to work some weekends and evenings is required.
