Nurse Practitioner – Part-Time

PART II: POSITION INFORMATION:

POSITION OVERVIEW: The Health and Wellness Center at Trinity Washington University seeks a PART-TIME Nurse Practitioner. The Health and Wellness Center supports the academic mission of Trinity by providing professional health and wellness services to Trinity Washington University students. The Part-Time Nurse Practitioner assists the Director, who is also a Nurse Practitioner, with providing medical services to students.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:

· A master’s degree is required

· Washington, D.C. Nurse Practitioner license and DC prescriptive privileges are required.

· Maintenance of CEU’s is required

· Current CPR certification required

· Experience in women’s health services and/or primary care services or ambulatory care

· Proficient in electronic health record systems (EHR)

· English and Spanish proficiency is desirable

· Demonstrate understanding of college women student health and wellness needs

· Possess excellent written and oral communication skills

· Ability to work in diverse community respectfully with staff and students

· Able to demonstrate leadership

· Able to document in electronic health record system (EHR)

· Able to maintain accurate electronic student records in compliance with HIPAA

· Ability to work in a collaborative environment

SPECIAL LICENSES, REGISTRATION OR CERTIFICATION:

· APRN/APNP (Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner) licensed in Washington DC

· National certification in Adult, Family, or Women’s Health

· Should carry personal malpractice insurance

· Should have an NPI number

· CPR certification required

LEVEL & TYPE OF EXPERIENCE:

· Minimum of 1 year of clinical practice in ambulatory care setting

· Experience in Primary care and/or Women’s Health

· Experience working with a diverse population of college women

· Ability to work autonomously in a solo practice setting

SCHEDULE:

· 24 hours per week ideally scheduled over three weekdays between 9:00 am – 5:00 pm

PART III: DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND TASKS:

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES (Functions and Tasks):

Health Services

1. Provide routine primary care and women’s health services to all enrolled students

2. Assist the clinical staff in the examination and treatment of routine primary care and women’s health services for enrolled students

3. Dispense and prescribe medications in compliance with DC regulations

4. Arrange for off-campus referrals for students who need to be evaluated by a physician or specialist

5. Provide quality medical care services for students

6. Review Health and immunization histories and notify students of deficiencies

7. Work independently from standing orders

8. Order appropriate lab studies in accordance with protocols

9. Respond to medical emergencies as needed

10. Comply with confidentiality requirements as set by HIPAA, FERPA, federal, state, and local regulation

11. Conduct COVID testing as needed

12. Administer vaccines to students including COVID vaccines

13. Assist in audit procedures to ensure the quality of record keeping and patient services

14. Collaborate with Director of the Health and Wellness Center to develop and implement programs for awareness weeks and other targeted topic

15. Assist the Director in coordinating the annual health fair and regular activities promoting wellness

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES (Functions & Tasks):

1. Other duties as assigned and deemed necessary by the Director of Health and Wellness and Vice President for Student Affairs

CAMPUS COMMUNITY EVENTS PARTICIPATION:

It is expected that you will participate in and contribute to the success of official events, in addition to Student Activity events. The following events require your attendance and participation:

Orientation, Cap and Gown, Convocation, Commencement and Reunion Weekend
