Trinity Washington University seeks a dynamic, creative, energetic, and organized individual to serve as Director of Communications and Marketing. Founded in 1897 as one of the nation’s historic Catholic women’s colleges, Trinity today continues that mission while also including coeducational programs at the graduate and professional levels with about 2000 students enrolled.  Trinity is classified as both a Predominantly Black and Hispanic Serving institution. Responsibilities

Under the primary direction of the Vice President for Development and Alumnae Relations and in consultation with the President, the Director of Communications and Marketing plans, implements and assesses a comprehensive communications and marketing strategy for the entire University.   The Director provides leadership and management of strategic communications and integrated marketing services to the University’s academic and administrative units to advance the University’s reputation, build the University’s brand, drive enrollment, and enhance the University’s image through media relations, public relations, brand management, marketing communications, web/digital communications, social media, and creative services in support of the University’s vision, mission, goals and core values.

The Director designs and manages the flow of communication to targeted audiences, both internal and external, and cultivates and nurtures relationships with the media. The Director develops and manages implementation and evaluation of marketing campaigns.  The Director will also manage special projects and perform other duties as required to meet organizational needs. In addition to reporting to the VP for Development and Alumnae Relations, this position will work closely with the President and other senior leadership.

Qualifications

This leadership position requires at least a master’s degree in public relations, communications, journalism, marketing or in a related field supplemented by at least five years of progressively responsible experience in public relations/communications/marketing, preferably in higher education. Experience as a journalist, copy editor or producer in print or broadcast media is preferred. Experience with brand management, project management, editing/proofreading, and knowledge of AP style are essential. Intermediate to proficient use of Microsoft Office, knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite or individual Adobe software programs is a plus. Must be accustomed to working in a fast-paced, deadline driven office. The equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered. Must be willing to work evenings and weekends and during other times, as needed.
