Adjunct Faculty – Health Science, Advanced Technical Center

Trinity Washington University is seeking a dynamic educator to teach courses within the General Nursing program for the new Advanced Technical Center (ATC), a high school dual enrollment program in the College of Arts & Sciences for the Winter Term 2024, Spring Semester 2024, and May Term 2024. The adjunct instructor will teach these courses at the ATC’s Penn Center, which is located at 1709 3rd St NE.

For Winter Term 2024, candidates would teach one section of the 1-credit INT 100: Academic Success Seminar course per the following schedule:

INT 100/4:   MTWTHF    2:40 – 4:00 PM

For Spring Semester 2024, candidates would teach one section each of the 1-credit HPNU 120: Medical Terminology course and the 3-cr PEH 121: Nutrition & Wellness course per the following schedule:

HPNU 120/4:   MTWTHF    2:40 – 4:00 PM

PEH 121/4:       MTWTHF    2:40 – 4:00 PM

For May Term 2024, candidates would teach one section of the 1-credit NSCM 100: Pre-Science Skills Lab course per the following schedule:

NSCM 100/4:   MTWTHF    2:40 – 4:00 PM

The Winter Term ATC classes start on January 3, 2024. This role would include additional compensation commensurate with the additional teaching hours.

The Advanced Technical Center is a partnership with the Office of the State Superintendent of Education to provide DC high school students with the opportunity to complete dual enrollment pathways in Career and Technical Education fields such as health sciences and information technology.

QUALIFICATIONS: Successful candidates should have earned at least a Master’s degree from an accredited institution and be able to demonstrate strong teaching skills. Previous undergraduate classroom experience is required. Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching dual enrollment students, and who demonstrate excellence with engaged and active learning practices.

Official transcripts for all degrees earned, sample course syllabi, course evaluations and/or other evidence of teaching effectiveness, and contact information for three professional references will be needed if the candidate is invited to campus for an interview. Knowledge of best teaching practices is required. Finalists will be invited for an interview and teaching demonstration.
