Adjunct Faculty – Health Science, Advanced Technical Center

Trinity Washington University is seeking a dynamic educator to teach courses within the General Nursing program for the new Advanced Technical Center (ATC), a high school dual enrollment program in the College of Arts & Sciences for spring 2023 semester. Courses include: HPNU 101: Principles of Health Science; HPNU120: Medical Terminology, and PEH 121: Nutrition & Wellness.

For Spring 2023, candidates would teach the 1-credit HPNU 120 and the 3-credit PEH 121 courses per the following schedule:

HPNU 120/ATC1: MTWTHF 8:25 – 9:45 AM

PEH 121/ATC1: MTWTHF 8:25 – 9:45 AM

HPNU 120/ATC3: MTWTHF 2:40 – 4:00 PM

PEH 121/ATC3: MTWTHF 2:40 – 4:00 PM

These are in-person classes on Trinity’s campus. Spring 2023 classes start on Monday, January 23 and end Friday, May 12. This role would include additional compensation commensurate with the additional teaching hours.

The Advanced Technical Center is a partnership with the Office of the State Superintendent of Education to provide DC high school students with the opportunity to complete dual enrollment pathways in Career and Technical Education fields such as health sciences and information technology.

QUALIFICATIONS: Successful candidates should have earned at least a Master’s degree from an accredited institution and be able to demonstrate strong teaching skills. Previous undergraduate classroom experience required. Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching dual enrollment students, and who demonstrate excellence with engaged and active learning practices.

Official transcripts for all degrees earned, sample course syllabi, course evaluations and/or other evidence of teaching effectiveness, and contact information for three professional references will be needed if the candidate is invited to campus for an interview. Knowledge of best teaching practices is required. Finalists will be invited for an interview and teaching demonstration.
