Spring Commencement 2013
Congratulations to all our graduates!
Gray skies did not dampen the spirits of the Blue Class of 2013 as more than 300 graduates and more than 2,500 guests celebrated Trinity’s 110th Commencement on Saturday, May 18. Commencement speaker Maria Gomez, founder and CEO of Mary’s Center, encouraged graduates to use their Trinity degrees to make positive contributions to their workplaces, their communities, and their families. She reflected on her own journey, immigrating from Columbia at age 13, earning a college degree in nursing and a master’s degree, pursuing a career in public health, and establishing Mary’s Center to meet the health care needs of women and their families in D.C.
Winter Graduation Review
On Tuesday, January 8, 2013 more than 1500 graduates, families and friends gathered to celebrate Winter Graduation, at which 180 undergraduate and graduate degrees were conferred.
Pax Christi International Co-president Marie Dennis ’64 inspired the graduates with her remarks, challenging them to not turn inward but to always strive to create a more peaceful world and to use their Trinity education to determine the direction of their lives. She warned them not play it safe. In closing, she reminded them that they are a work in progress and to be open to the opportunities to help others, to make peace, and to create a better world.
