Spring Commencement
Congratulations Graduates!
Trinity Virtual Graduation Celebrations by Zoom, May 13, 14, 15!
Commencement, scheduled for May 16, has been postponed, we will definitely have a “live” commencement in the fall when large groups are possible once more. We know this is a special moment for you and your families. You will receive your academic gowns and hoods when we have that ceremony.
Until then, we will be holding Trinity Virtual Graduation Celebrations! We will have 12 interactive Zoom sessions, May 13, 14 and 15. Provost Ocampo, Deans and faculty will participate. We will have a bit of ceremony – some “Pomp and Circumstance,” a formal reading of your names, some words of encouragement, the faculty, deans, provost.
But here’s the best part: YOU will have an opportunity to say a few words as part of this celebration – a chance to say a few words about what graduation from Trinity means to you. At the end of the celebration I will confer your degrees formally, and we will mail your diplomas.
We have arranged these virtual celebrations by academic schools and major programs. If you cannot attend the date/time indicated for your program, but want to join another group, that’s fine, just let me know. Several of you who are double majors asked if you can attend both and the answer is yes, we will send you both Zoom meetings.
Mortarboards are on the way! We ordered academic caps and tassels for you and Dean Meechie Bowie mailed them the week of May 4th. Be on the lookout for large manila envelopes with this precious cargo! Please let us know if you have not received yours. You can decorate your mortarboard or leave it as is with elegant black…. Up to you! Everyone should be nicely dressed for our “virtual” celebrations. If you do have a black academic robe, you can wear it, too, that’s up to you.
