Cap and Gown Weekend 2011

Cap and Gown is one of Trinity’s most cherished traditions. More than 100 years old, it is one of the most memorable moments in the lives of our seniors. Cap and Gown Weekend includes Cap and Gown Convocation on Saturday, and Cap and Gown Mass on Sunday, followed by brunch and a Courtyard Sing. This year we celebrated the achievements of the Red Class of 2012.

Saturday, September 24 – Sunday, September 25, 2011

This year, more than 400 seniors, families and members of the Trinity community gathered on campus for Cap and Gown Weekend on September 24-25.

Cap and Gown Convocation featured keynote remarks by Trinity graduate Maisha Leek ’03, chief of staff to Congressman Chaka Fattah (D-PA) and one of the youngest Congressional chiefs of staff on Capitol Hill. She was presented with Trinity’s Washington Woman of Genius Award for her outstanding leadership in public service. Check this site soon to read her remarks. Cap and Gown Convocation also featured remarks from President McGuire.

The Trinity community gathered in Notre Dame Chapel for Cap and Gown Mass on Sunday and the gospel choir from St. Martin’s Parish inspired everyone with their beautiful, sacred music. The St. Catherine Medal was presented to senior Tiara Bland ’12. Following a festive brunch, students from all four classes participated in the traditional Courtyard Sing which included the presentation of the class banner to the first-year Gold Class of 2015.
