Caroline (Lingelbach) Peloso
Caroline Peloso died after a two-year struggle with lung cancer on Nov. 11, 2019, surrounded by her children, their spouses, and her husband, at her home in Lawrenceville, NJ. In a 25-year career as an elementary school teacher and counselor in Montgomery County, MD, elementary schools, she treated children with respect. When she became a counselor, her office was a special place where the children could privately share their deepest feelings with a trustworthy adult. A high point in her career came in 1985 as a new counselor at Wyngate School. A popular third grader climbed onto an old sidewalk mailbox. The mailbox toppled over and crushed the child to death. The community was stunned. How could this happen to such a well-liked kid? As the school counselor, Caroline met with and reassured all those concerned, and soon everyone turned to discussing a memorial to celebrate the brief life of the popular child.
