1969 Class Notes for 2019
Dear Classmates,
The Blues of ’69 came together – strong in number, with boundless enthusiasm and, honestly, much wonderment on May 31 to June 2 to celebrate 50+ years of memories and friendships. I know I speak for everyone who attended when I say thank you to all who contributed to making those such special days.
Just over 100 classmates participated in the weekend of events and more than $400,000 was raised for ’69 To The Finish Line, the class gift which will help young women in the College of Arts and Sciences who have the same dreams we had some 50 years ago complete their Trinity educations and achieve their goals. We will keep you posted as that total continues to grow, with our ultimate dream of hitting half a million.
Because there is so much to share and not enough time to write it all up for this issue of the Trinity Magazine, a full Reunion Report will be sent to all classmates electronically later this summer. (If people are not on email, we’ll do our best to get out a few paper copies.)
Thanks to all that Susie Hughes Hunter and Kathy DeVoto Shuman have done, we can stay connected through our Facebook page, “Trinity College Class of 1969”. As of June after reunion, there are 130 of us onboard. Lorette Auditore Lavine has offered to contribute to keeping the page going, and we would welcome other volunteers. Join in the conversation and post – people love hearing from each other.
We want to use this letter to give huge thanks to Jeanne McManus who has served as class scribe for the past 25 years and to Marcia Calvo Harper who served in the prior 25 years At this point we need someone to take on the role of class scribe for the next few years. If you can do this (basically request information from classmates annually and submit a summary to the college for publication in the Journal) please contact me.
It was beyond wonderful to see so many at our 50th and to hear from those who were unable to join us that weekend in DC. I think it’s safe to say it was a true ‘happening’. We look forward to future gatherings, including some in other locations, which will not be as beautifully planned and executed, but will be opportunities to be together.
Be well, and we will be back in contact soon.
