Little Sisters of the Poor

The Little Sisters of the Poor provides long term care to older low-income citizens in the District. They are located at 4200 Harewood Road, NE DC 20017 (close to Trinity Washington University).

The Franciscan Monastery Garden Guild

FMGG Greenhouse Schedule:

  • All FMGG members and volunteers must wear “FMGG Volunteer” badge with Red Lanyard while working in the greenhouse, Fr. Francis’s Garden, meadow, etc.  These IDs located under the whiteboard in Greenhouse.
  • Address/Directions:  Greenhouse at the Franciscan Monastery

The Franciscan Monastery is located at 1400 Quincy Street, NE.  There is a parking lot (no charge) on the corner of 14th & Quincy Streets, NE which is across the street from the Monastery’s entrance.

The closest Metro station is via the Red Line’s Brookland/Catholic University of America (CUA).  Upon arrival, please either transfer to the H6 bus – direction “Fort Lincoln” and disembark at 14th & Quincy Streets, NE or walk up the hill on Newton Street, NE to 14th Street, NE and turn left for 14th & Quincy Streets NE (approximately 15 walk).

Upon arrival, ask the Monastery’s security guard for directions to the greenhouse in the back behind the Monastery’s Gift Shop.

We have no student facilitator at this point, so students are encouraged to volunteer individually or with friends. Please contact Campus Ministry if you wish to volunteer.

The Women’s Collective
