Sr. Cunneen Summer Fellows 2024
Fernanda ‘Fern’ Avendano Gomez, a Senior Business Administration major, has served with Pax Christi-USA. Pax Christi USA, a branch of Pax Christi International, located in DC, serves as a non-profit organization that seeks to bring unity between Catholics and all who reject violence and work for peace. Fern learned how a non-profit organization maintains a strong presence, nation-wide “This opportunity fits my needs at the moment as I begin my business career,” says Fern in her essay. Fern had the opportunity experience the challenge of creating and promoting PEACE in our nation this summer.
Arianna Camacho – Mendez, a Junior Psychology major just completed her service with St. Ann’s Center for Infants, Youth, and Families, in Hyattsville. Arianna supported the children’s care center, and learned about the daily operations of this historic service organization whose charter was first signed in 1860 by President Lincoln! Arianna states, “I am interested in working at St. Ann’s Center because of their strong determination to help families in need, specifically at-risk mothers and their children.” Because of the multiple forms of assistance to families in need, St. Ann’s held many opportunities for Arianna to lend assistance and learn through offering compassion and care this summer. Thank you, Arianna and Fern, for your Cunneen Summer service. We look forward to hearing from you when you make your presentations on October 1, 2024, at 4pm in Rose Parlor!
