Join Trinity in celebrating Día de los Muertos! Help us decorate the Trinity ofrenda (altar) by brining pictures of your deceased loved ones for the altar.  Please label the back of your picture with your name and email, so the picture can be returned to you afterwards.  Also write your loved one’s name in Trinity’s Book of Remembrance and they will be prayed for during the month of November at the weekly 12:10 pm Wednesday Mass.

Día de los Muertos is celebrated on November 1 and 2 and is a holiday of ancient Mesoamerica (Mexico and northern Central America) where deceased ancestors are honored.  With the arrival and conquering of the Spanish in Mexico and Central America,  Día de los Muertos was intertwined with two Catholic holidays: All Saints Day (Nov. 1) and All Soul’s Day (Nov. 2). Central to the celebration of Día de los Muertos is the creation of an ofrenda  (altar) that honors one’s ancestors. The ofrenda is decorated with marigolds, water, monarch butterflies, sugar skulls and pictures of deceased ancestors.
