Colleges and universities can’t teach our future leaders how to make the idea of the peaceful, productive polity work in the most diverse society the world has ever known by ignoring the truth of our history, by submitting to the inappropriate pressures of political operatives, by adopting a stance of institutional neutrality that betrays our entire purpose in higher education.
