The Center for Student Success: Academic Advising

The Center for Student Success is a one-stop shop for academic advising, financial advising, and student success needs that operates both in person and via Trinity’s student success platform, Starfish. Each student is assigned a profile in Starfish, which allows all members of a student’s success network (instructors, advisors, Deans, financial aid counselors, etc.) to work seamlessly together to support students to achieve their academic goals. Students can link to Starfish on the My Trinity page of Trinity’s website.

The Center for Student Success provides access to an academic advising, financial advising, and student support team that students can access throughout their Trinity experience. Students are assigned a Student Success Advisor according to their intended or declared major. Students meet with their academic advisor to review their Program of Study and academic policies, select classes and register, explore career options, and learn about resources for addressing challenges and overcoming barriers during their academic journey. Student Success Advisors can also help connect students with Student Affairs, Health and Wellness, Financial Aid, and additional off-campus resources and supports to ensure they are able to successfully persist.

Students intending to pursue degrees in the College of Nursing and Health Professions (Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Public Health, Social Work) or the School of Education (Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, Community Education, etc.) typically begin their journey in the College of Arts and Sciences or the School of Professional and Graduate Studies where they complete their General Education or Core requirements and any pre-health or pre-education prerequisite courses. This broad background in liberal learning and professional preparation provides a strong foundation for their chosen fields of health care or education. Students intending to pursue one of these majors are assigned to Student Success Advisors trained to guide them through their prerequisites and advise them on entry requirements to the licensure phase of their major.
