Silence is Violence
Ask not what your country can do for you.
Ask why this country is so willing to keep us quiet.
Why our stories don’t make it to the 10 o’clock news block, silencing the screams caused by a bullet that passes through the black bodies slain by the ones that are ordered to protect and serve, no wait, I’m sorry;
Exterminate
The young life that never got to reach full term because trained killers are taught to shoot first, claim innocence later.
Sent back to their desk jobs to lead normal lives while we march for a justice that’ll take long to come.
This system isn’t for us.
Set up for us to get shot down
creating our unmarked graves each time we aren’t reported on. It’s “all lives matter” being said but
never chanted in these streets. We teach our children to stay away from danger.
Danger sits in their squad cars in front of convenience stores waiting on a victim who will be labeled “suspect.”
Danger stands together on the street and makes us uneasy when we walk by.
Danger is a man in blue being allowed back in the streets with red splattered on his hands.
Ask not what your country can do for you.
Ask why our blood continues to stain our flag.
