Walker’s Legacy Foundation Launches Moms Who Enterprise in Washington, D.C.
Program designed to advance entrepreneurial opportunity and financial resilience for single mothers in the District of Columbia
February 5, 2019 – Walker’s Legacy Foundation, in partnership the Office of Councilman Kenyan McDuffie, announces the launch of Moms Who Enterprise, a six-week program supported by Citi Community Development that is designed to develop financial and entrepreneurship skills for expectant or existing mothers in the District. Qualified participants include women who are pregnant or parenting, identify as low-income or A.L.I.C.E (asset limited income constrained yet employed) and currently looking to take their businesses to the next level.
Applications for the program will be accepted through Friday February 15, 2019. The program, which will occur on Saturdays from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm, will begin on Saturday March 16, 2019 and will culminate with a graduation ceremony on Saturday May 11, 2019, in advance of Mother’s Day. All of the classes and the graduation ceremony will be held on Trinity’s campus.

Research has shown that 39 percent of the more than 10 million low-income working families with children are headed by single working mothers. The unique program provides participants with financial and business knowledge through an accelerated six-week program, original curriculum, a mobile e-learning app, and free childcare.
The program launch was officially announced at Trinity Washington University on Wednesday, February 6, 2019, 2:00 pm to 2:30 pm, in Rose Parlor in Main Hall, 125 Michigan Ave. NE, Washington, DC 20017
