Trinity Student: “Oprah’s Favorites”

Trinity Student: “Oprah’s Favorites”

Trinity student CaShawn Thompson, the creator of #BlackGirlMagic, shouted with joy when she learned that the books she published were named to this year’s 2021 list of “Oprah’s Favorite Things.” The list, in its 25th year, is very influential as shoppers start buying gifts for the holidays. The books were already New York Times bestsellers. Getting selected and featured on “Oprah’s Favorite Things,” on the Children’s Gifts list, is a whole other level of amazing!

Watch her wonderful interview on Fox 5 DC  on November 4, 2021: “Black Girl Magic makes Oprah’s Favorite Things List! CaShawn Thompson, author and creator of Black Girl Magic, talks about making Oprah’s Favorite Things List!” View the video to the end where she gives a shout-out to Trinity! She’s in Trinity’s School of Professional Studies, earning her associate of arts degree in early childhood education.

President Patricia McGuire recognized CaShawn Thompson in early October for her achievements and her newest book: “Congratulations to our student CaShawn A. Thompson, an early childhood education student who is the creator of #BlackGirlMagic — she recently had a book tour  for Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls: 100 Real-Life Tales of Black Girl Magic.  Watch the WJLA-TV story about her here. I am so grateful to Academic Advisor Ayesha Shabazz for bringing CaShawn’s achievement to my attention!”
