Masi Preston ’09: Principal of the Year!
Trinity graduate Masi Preston ’09 was named D.C. Principal of the Year by Standing Ovation for DC Public Schools. She earned her master’s in educational administration from Trinity and is principal of Dorothy I. Height Elementary School in Ward 4. She was surprised by the award when it was announced by Chancellor Lewis Ferebee at a school assembly in December 2019. She will be honored at a celebration on January 30, 2020, at the 10th Annual Standing Ovation for DC Public Schools hosted by the DC Public Education Fund.
Principal Preston is a graduate of Coolidge High School in D.C. and is a committed D.C Public Schools educator who believes in and works toward her school’s vision of “Every Child, Every Day, Excellence!”
Twenty-six D.C. Public Schools teachers, administrators, staff members, and school communities were named Standing Ovation award winners for their commitment to ensuring every student feels loved, challenged, and prepared to positively influence society and thrive in life.
Each year, D.C.’s business leaders, philanthropic champions, education partners and civic leaders come together for Standing Ovation for DC Public Schools. This ceremony and celebration honors the achievements of D.C. Public Schools’ top teachers, leaders, and school communities. Since 2010, DC Public Ed Fund has hosted Standing Ovation. Now entering its tenth year, this unique D.C. tradition continues to play a critical role in elevating the teaching profession and celebrating what’s working in urban education.
