12 Students Receive Trinity Grants for Study Abroad

President Pat McGuire announced the recipients of this year’s Trinity Summer 2019 Study Abroad Grants.  The 12 students are receiving grants from Trinity to expand their global experiences and enhance their academic studies. “These students have strong academic records and submitted terrific applications and rationales for their study abroad programs,” President McGuire said in her announcement. “They had the strong endorsements of faculty and advisors.  They will participate in programs in the various locations conducted through our study abroad partner CIEE.  We wish them well on these adventures and look forward to hearing about their experiences when they return. Please join me in congratulating these study abroad scholars!”

Recipients of the CIEE Presidential Fellowship Awards and Trinity Grants

President McGuire nominated two outstanding students for special fellowships provided directly through CIEE.  These Presidential Fellows are:

• Fozia Jafar ’22, a biology major in the College of Arts and Sciences, who will study in London.
• Adonis Mokom ’22, a nursing major who will also study in London.

Recipients of Trinity Study Abroad Grants

• Mariama Barrie ’19, an international affairs major in the College of Arts and Sciences who will study in Cape Town, South Africa.
• Sade Campbell ’19, a journalism and media Studies major in the School of Professional Studies who will also study in Cape Town.
• Shanice Cephas ’19, an English major in the College of Arts and Sciences who will study in Paris.
• Vummadi Chinoy ’21, a biology major in the College of Arts and Sciences who will study comparative public health in London and Amsterdam
• Ameenah Johnson ’20, an English major in the College of Arts and Sciences who will study in London
• Youssra Khalil ’21, a communication major in the College of Arts and Sciences who will study in Paris
• Lewana Kidane ’20, a health services major who will study in Rio de Janiero
• Betsy Mendoz Bonilla ’20, a biology major who will study sustainability in Costa Rica
• Diamond Moore ’21, a nursing major who will study in Paris
• Sabrina Ortiz Santos ’20, a communication major who will study in Buenos Aires
