Trinity Launches New Master of Arts Degree in International Security Studies
Trinity is launching a new master of arts in international security studies (MAISS) starting in spring 2008 through the School of Professional Studies. The degree program prepares students for analytical, operational, and leadership positions in global interagency, military and civilian settings. The new master’s degree was developed through Trinity’s Intelligence Community Center of Academic Excellence.
In the years since the 9/11 attacks and the advent of the war in Iraq, the need for new and diverse approaches to international security has become acute throughout the public and private security-related professions. The MAISS program is designed to give established and aspiring international security professionals the necessary edge in a chaotic world. It is ideal for political and economic specialists, threat specialists, and foreign area specialists. In addition to coursework, the program will offer professional activities outside of the classroom to promote networking and career advancement.
This coeducational program is 36 credit hours and launches in spring 2008. The program is flexible with evenings and weekend classes and distance-learning, and accelerated 8-week sessions.
Upcoming courses for spring 2008 include “Jihadist Global Strategies,” “The Global War on Terrorism” and “Security in Global Context.” Selected course can be counted as elective credits in the Naval War College nonresident graduate degree program in the Insurgency and Terrorism AOS.
