Board of Trade Dinner Honors Trinity President Patricia McGuire as Leader of the Years
More than 400 business and community leaders gathered to salute President Patricia McGuire as the Greater Washington Board of Trade’s 2007 Leader of the Years for her outstanding contributions to the business and community interests of greater Washington. More than 80 Trinity alumnae, students, Trustees, Sisters of Notre Dame, faculty and staff were present for this special black-tie event on May 15.
Donald Graham, publisher of The Washington Post and chairman of the board of The Washington Post Company, gave the testimonial tribute in President McGuire’s honor. He eloquently captured Trinity’s commitment to educating underserved populations of students while continuing its commitment to excellence and quality. “What is truly remarkable about the education of Trinity students is the quality of education they receive,” he said. “The academic achievements and graduation rates of Trinity students are spectacularly high and employers beat a path to Trinity’s door to hire Trinity graduates.” His tribute was heartfelt and filled with admiration for President McGuire: “Pat changed Trinity and she saved Trinity in a way that will make a lasting difference to this city.”
Board of Trade Chair Barbara Krumsiek, who is president and CEO of the Calvert Group and Julie Rogers, president of the Meyer Foundation, presented President McGuire with the Leader of the Years Award. Members of the Advisory Board of the Girl Scout Council of the Nation’s Capital sang a tribute in honor of President McGuire.
