President McGuire Named one of Washingtonian Magazine’s 100 Most Powerful Women

Trinity President Patricia McGuire has been honored as one of Washingtonian magazine’s “100 Most Powerful Women” and is featured prominently in the June issue. ” Washington is home to some of the world’s most formidable and talented women,” notes the magazine. “The area’s 100 most powerful defy the common wisdom about what it takes to succeed.” The Washingtonian’s prestigious list of women leaders includes Condoleezza Rice, Hillary Clinton, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Maureen Dowd, Trinity graduate Nancy Pelosi, and Trinity Commencement speakers Sheila Johnson, Marie Johns, Linda Cropp and Eleanor Holmes Norton.

The caption accompanying the photo of the three influential women leaders at the beginning of the article notes, “Some of the area’s best and brightest women, like public-interest advocate Nan Aron, university president Patricia McGuire, and media executive Judith McHale, are using their hard-earned influence to make life better for other women.”

The feature profile of President McGuire chronicles her professional development and her leadership role in the transformation of Trinity during her tenure as president, making higher education more accessible. “As a university president, you have to be an entrepreneur,” she notes in the profile, which cites the success of the Trinity Center for Women and Girls in Sports and the valuable partnerships with the Girl Scouts and Washington Hospital Center.
