Dear Trinity Alumnae and Alumni, Families and Friends:
With much joy and excitement, I am pleased to share magnificent news with you! Thanks to the extraordinary generosity of Trinity alumnae and friends, we are fully engaged in the design work on the new Trinity Academic Center, with groundbreaking anticipated in early summer of 2014. This new building will provide wonderful new laboratories for the sciences and nursing, while also expanding our classroom capacity. The new academic center will ensure Trinity’s academic strength and success far into the future.
Our immense joy and gratitude goes out to all of our benefactors, including Joan Payden, Class of 1953, whose historic $10 million gift has propelled our plans forward. We are also deeply grateful to Barbara Glynn, Class of 1964, and her husband John for their magnificent generosity. We extend much gratitude to Jurate Kazickas, Class of 1964, and her husband Roger Altman who have also made a great gift to support the Campaign for Trinity’s Second Century. We are also grateful to the Moran Family Foundation and other Washington area philanthropists who are supporting this campaign. With these and significant gifts from many other alumnae and benefactors, the campaign now stands at more than $18 million toward our $30 million goal. Many, many thanks to all of the great benefactors who have made this moment possible!

In other news, I am so pleased to tell you that Trinity began this new academic year in August with more than 2,500 students, including more than 1,100 in Trinity College, our historic women’s college, also known as the College of Arts and Sciences. Great partnerships continue to help build a remarkable student body for Trinity, including new partnerships this year with the KIPP charter school network, and the Cristo Rey Network of Catholic schools.
Trinity also welcomed the first 20 Conway Scholars into our new first year class. Thanks to a $2.8 million gift from the Bedford Falls Foundation, Trinity has established the Joanne and William Conway Scholarship Program for high-achieving, low-income students who wish to major in nursing. These students are top students from schools in D.C., Prince George’s and Montgomery counties.
With a great faculty, earnest student body, strong financial platform and visionary plans for the future, Trinity begins the 2013-2014 academic year with much pride and great confidence.
