The Campaign for Trinity’s Second Century

The Campaign for Trinity’s Second Century Gains Momentum

President-McGuireThis spring, through the generous support of alumnae and friends, the Campaign for Trinity’s Second Century topped $11.5 million in pledges and outright gifts – that’s more than one-third of the way toward the $30 million goal! This total includes three of the largest gifts ever pledged to Trinity – a $3 million pledge and a $2 million pledge from Trinity alumnae and a $2.8 million pledge from the foundation of Joanne and Bill Conway to support nursing scholarships (see story on the inside front cover).

“The extraordinary support of Trinity’s mission and strategic priorities from both alumnae and friends in the community, as evidenced by these very generous leadership pledges and gifts, is deeply gratifying,” said President Patricia McGuire. “This Campaign is immensely ambitious, but thanks to the loyalty and generosity of the Trinity family, I am confident that we will surpass our goal. I am meeting with alumnae across the country and their enthusiasm and support of Trinity today and in the future is exciting.”

Trinity’s Board of Trustees has approved a capital campaign with an initial goal of $30 million to support the priorities that Trinity must achieve to ensure a vibrant Second Century for the university. In the same spirit that compelled the Sisters of Notre Dame and generous benefactors to build Trinity’s historic campus to meet the needs of the first 10 decades of Trinity’s life, Trinity’s leadership now calls upon the Trinity family and large circle of friends to support the creation of the campus that will serve Trinity’s future generations with that same commitment to excellence and large vision for the future of this vital educational mission to the world that is Trinity in the 21st Century.

The Campaign for Trinity’s Second Century seeks significant gifts to build Trinity’s unrestricted reserves in order to support Trinity’s most important priorities, including development of the Trinity Academic Center, enlargement of the endowment, and to meet the ongoing need for student scholarships. Trinity is currently in the earliest stage of the capital campaign, in which the university continues to secure additional leadership gifts to ensure the success of this endeavor.

The Trinity Academic Center

To enlarge Trinity’s capacity while sustaining quality, the Board of Trustees approved the concept design for the Trinity Academic Center, a campaign priority and the first new academic building on campus since 1963. Trinity’s substantial and strategic enrollment growth makes this building an essential companion to the venerable Main Hall, forever the heart of Trinity. Evoking the best in academic innovation, the Trinity Academic Center will strengthen Trinity’s competitiveness by providing contemporary classrooms, laboratories and gathering spaces where the creative genius of rising Trinity generations will thrive.

The vision for the Trinity Academic Center is a world-class space for Trinity’s academic life that will be beautiful and welcoming, a powerful symbol of Trinity’s intellectual values and institutional ambition for future generations of Trinity students and faculty. The new Trinity Academic Center will not only serve the functional purposes of instruction, but will dynamically transform and raise up Trinity’s academic profile and reputation for future excellence.
