Spring 2009 Welcome

Spring 2009 Welcome

Dear Friends in the Trinity Community,

As this edition of TRINITY magazine goes to press, we have so much good news to report! The Class of 2009 is about to graduate on May 17, and they are as accomplished a group of students as any we have seen. Some of the more notable accomplishments in this class include a Fulbright Scholarship to teach in South Korea, and acceptances into a significant list of graduate and professional schools, including law schools at Drexel, Villanova, Temple and the University of Houston; and graduate programs at DePaul, Rutgers, Michigan State, George Washington, Drexel, Marshall, University of New Haven, Virginia Commonwealth University, Howard University, Northeastern University, Mercyhurst, University of Maryland Baltimore County and here at Trinity.  This class also has a fine group of Phi Beta Kappa members, as well as those in Alpha Sigma Lambda and other honor societies.

Even as we prepare to send the very talented Blue Class of 2009 into the world, another Blue Class – 2013 – is already gathering in large number, eager to take on the grand Trinity tradition of women’s leadership and service in our world. Nearly 1,000 young women have applied for admission to Trinity’s undergraduate program in the College of Arts and Sciences for Fall 2009; we are expecting our new first year class to top 250 students, with additional students enrolling as transfers into the upperclass years.

Not to be outdone by our women’s college, the applications and pending enrollments into the School of Professional Studies and School of Education are also surging to record levels. Even in this tight economy, when so many universities are reporting downturns, Trinity is booming!

Such good news is a credit to Trinity alumnae, alumni, benefactors and friends whose loyal support, financial generosity and active volunteer service make Trinity’s success visible to our community every day. We have special appreciation for the many gifts we have received in this very difficult economic moment. Your generosity to Trinity is an investment that will return in great abundance in the lives our graduates will continue to influence and change for the better.   This edition of TRINITY magazine tells some of the stories that exemplify the great Trinity tradition of service to others. Thank you for ensuring the durability and vitality of this mission.

With Much Gratitude,

President Patricia McGuire ’74
