Medical Assistant

The Health and Wellness Center at Trinity Washington University seeks a PART TIME Licensed Medical Assistant (MA). The Health and Wellness Center supports the academic mission of Trinity by providing professional health and wellness services to Trinity Washington University students. The MA assists the Director, who is a Nurse Practitioner, with providing health services to students.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:

Medical assistant licensed in Washington DC required; Current CPR certification required

experience in women’s health services and/or primary care services or ambulatory care

SCHEDULE:

20-24 hours per week scheduled on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays between 9:00 am – 4pm

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES (Functions and Tasks):

Assist the clinical staff in the examination and treatment of routine primary care and women’s health services for enrolled students including point of care testing

Assist in triaging students and recording vital signs and medical information in the Electronic Medical Record (EHR)

Assist the Nurse Practitioner in collection of ordered labs and phlebotomy needs of the clinic

Assist with the arrangement for off-campus referrals for students who need to be evaluated by a physician or specialist

Respond to medical emergencies as needed

Comply with confidentiality requirements as set by HIPAA, FERPA, federal, state and local regulation

Collaborate with Students Affairs staff to develop programs for awareness weeks and other targeted topic

Assist the Director in coordinating the annual health fair and regular activities promoting wellness

COVID Testing Services

Administer COVID tests to students as required or needed

Update daily COVID testing inventory and student compliance with weekly testing requirements

Maintain integrity of COVID testing inventory

Provide outreach to students for scheduling testing or collecting test results received off campus

Confer with Director of Health and Wellness on regular basis to update any testing protocols and/or workflow changes resulting from newly published guidelines or changes in methods

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES (Functions & Tasks):

Other duties as assigned and deemed necessary by the Director Health and Wellness and Vice President for Student Affairs

Employee must be able to work efficiently with many interruptions involving walk-in and telephone inquiries and requests.

The noise level in work environment is usually quiet but with frequent interruptions
