Director of Clinical Training in the School of Education

Trinity, a comprehensive university in the nation’s capital, seeks an experienced and energetic professional to serve as Director of Clinical Training for Teacher Education Programs in the School of Education. Trinity’s undergraduate and graduate degree programs prepare educators, administrators, and educational reformers to make strong contributions to early childhood and K-12 education in the Washington D.C. region.

Reporting to the Dean of the School of Education, the Director of Clinical Training works collaboratively with the Dean, faculty and clinical partners to arrange and oversee high-quality clinical placements of teacher candidate in all curriculum areas. The Director will prioritize working to develop a robust network of varied placements and coordinate closely with identified partner sites to construct mutually beneficial clinical experiences. The Director will monitor progress of teacher candidates through their early field experiences and year-long residency, prepare internal and external communications for the clinical experience program, and participate fully in accreditation efforts to evaluate the effectiveness of clinical experiences within the teacher education program. While this is an administrative staff position, the Director may also have some teaching duties.

To be successful in this position, the candidate must be self-motivated and able to work interchangeably with faculty, staff, school partners, and students.

Candidates should present at least a master’s degree in Education (doctorate preferred), experience teaching or as an administrator in a related program at the collegiate level as well as at least 3 years of teaching experience in a K-12 setting.

Candidates must also have knowledge of InTASC standards and CAEP accreditation standards and processes. Excellence in oral and written communication essential, along with the ability to develop and sustain partnerships with schools throughout the Washington region.
