Program Director: Baccalaureate Program in Social Work

Trinity, a comprehensive university in the nation’s capital, seeks an experienced academic leader in Social Work to develop and lead Trinity’s new Bachelor’s in Social Work (BSW) program.   Reporting to the Dean of the School of Nursing and Health Professions, the BSW Program Director will plan and build the program, from vision to curriculum and clinical partnerships.  Trinity aims to launch the program in Fall 2023.  The Program Director will also have some teaching responsibilities; the position is ideal for a candidate who is interested in both program administration and the opportunity to teach a variety of courses in Social Work.

In addition to creating the strategic plan and curriculum design for Trinity’s first Social Work program, the Program Director will take the lead in working with CSWE on the accreditation candidacy application and ensuring that Trinity meets all accreditation requirements for the program.  The director will also hire and supervise the Social Work faculty, as well as the fieldwork coordinator who will develop the partnerships with local and regional agencies to identify appropriate placements for students.  The director will coordinate with admissions to support student recruitment, and will also oversee student progress, assessment, and the management of academic actions in cooperation with the dean and Trinity’s academic governance policies.  The director will also teach and engage in scholarly and professional development consistent with CSWE standards.

Trinity enrolls about 2,000 students in undergraduate and graduate programs throughout the university.  Currently, Trinity has specialized accreditation for programs in Nursing (CCNE), Occupational Therapy (ACOTE), Counseling (CACREP), and Education (CAEP), with institutional accreditation through Middle States.  Trinity is the only university in the Washington region classified as both a Predominantly Black and Hispanic Serving Institution. Trinity maintains its historic undergraduate women’s college while also supporting coeducational graduate and professional programs.

The successful candidate for this position must present an MSW from a CSWE-approved program; a doctorate (DSW or Ph.D. in Social Work) is preferred.  Candidates must also have a current DC/MD/VA Social Work license (LGSW, LISW or LICSW).  At least three-to-five years of teaching experience in a CSWE-accredited program, with additional program administration experience preferred.  Competitive candidates will have experience with the 2015 CSWE EPAS accreditation standards and experience with the accreditation processes.  Competitive candidates will also have strong records of teaching effectiveness with a diverse student population, a demonstrated commitment to active learner-centered teaching, experience with outcomes assessment in courses and programs, and the ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively with colleagues across many disciplines and degree levels.

Interested candidates should submit a cover letter of no more than two pages expressing the candidate’s qualifications for the position along with a complete curriculum vitae.  Finalists must also supply references.  Submit applications and credentials to the “Apply Here Now” link below where you will be re-directed to our online application.
