Trinity Washington University, a comprehensive university in the nation’s capital, seeks highly qualified candidates for adjunct faculty positions in its graduate-level certificate and MED in Education Policy programs. The mission of Trinity’s Education Programs is to prepare educators, administrators, and reformers who advocate for those who are and historically have been marginalized by challenging systems of oppression. Courses that need instruction include: The Role of Social, Economic, and Political Systems in Urban Education, Education Leadership, Current Issues in Urban Education, Education Law & Policy, and Politics and Education Policy.

 

Qualifications: Successful applicants will have an earned doctorate (preferred) or Master’s Degree in education policy, law, or a related area, at least five years working in the education policy field, and (preferably) previous teaching experience in higher education.

We seek candidates who understand the barriers facing traditionally underrepresented groups in PK-12 and/or higher education, and who have engaged in professional activity that promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion in education. Possible areas of experience/expertise include (but are not limited to):

  1. The impact of educational policies, programs, and structures on inequities in PK-12 and/or higher education;
  2. Policies and/or practices (at the district, school, or classroom level) that disrupt the production of educational inequalities with respect to race, economic disadvantage, language status, disability, or other factors in producing educational inequalities;
  3. Development of district and state-wide assessment systems that promote equity and opportunity for PK-12 students;
  4. Inter-relationships among policy, organizations, reform efforts, and equity goals.
