Part Time Registered Nurse

The Health and Wellness Center at Trinity Washington University seeks a PART TIME Registered Nurse.  The Health and Wellness Center supports the academic mission of Trinity by providing professional health and wellness services to Trinity Washington University students.  This position is specifically to assist Trinity Health and Wellness Center with COVID Testing and COVID Vaccines administration.  The RN assists the Director, who is a Nurse Practitioner, with providing health services to students.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • RN licensed in Washington DC
  • Current CPR certification required

SCHEDULE:

  • 20 hours per week

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES (Functions and Tasks):

COVID Testing Services

  1. Administer COVID tests to students as required or needed
  2. Update daily COVID testing inventory and student compliance with weekly testing requirements
  3. Maintain integrity of COVID testing inventory at clinical sites
  4. Provide outreach to students for scheduling testing or collecting test results received off campus
  5. Confer with Director of Health and Wellness on regular basis to update any testing protocols and/or workflow changes resulting from newly published guidelines or changes in methods

COVID Vaccine Services

  1. Administer COVID vaccines on campus, when available
  2. Update daily COVID Vaccine inventory as required
  3. Maintains integrity of COVID vaccine inventory at clinical site
  4. Observes signs and symptoms of reactions and provides other vaccine related education to patients as needed
  5. Confer with Director of Health and Wellness on regular basis to update any vaccination protocols and/or workflow changes resulting from newly published guidelines or changes in methods
  6. Provide nursing triage support and education to patients with inquiries on the COVID vaccine
  7. Coordinate access to off campus vaccine locations for interested patience

Health Services

  1. Assist the clinical staff in the examination and treatment of routine primary care and women’s health services for enrolled students
  1. Assist with the arrangement for off-campus referrals for students who need to be evaluated by a physician or specialist
  2. Work independently from standing orders
  3. Respond to medical emergencies as needed
  4. Comply with confidentiality requirements as set by HIPAA, FERPA, federal, state and local regulation
  5. Collaborate with Students Affairs staff to develop programs for awareness weeks and other targeted topic
