Work Study – Reception Desk – Payden Academic Center

 This position acts as an official representative of the University and is responsible for the following:

  • serves as the welcoming face of the Payden Academic Center & Main Hall;
  • serves as the primary information resource to the Trinity Washington University community and its guests;
  • answers all phone calls and directs them to the appropriate departments;
  • able to provide directions to and from campus destinations;
  • responds to guest questions by connecting them to appropriate resources;
  • knowledgeable of all on-campus internal and external events;
  • assisting with set-up/breakdown for both internal and external events as needed;
  • serves as a liaison between Trinity’s Department of Public Safety (DPS) and the Academic Center patrons;
  • provides customer service and assistance as needed;
  • ability to work with various university departments;
  • maintaining a high standard of personal appearance;
  • ability to follow the policies and procedures set forth by the Executive Director and Director of Conference Services and DPS;
  • assist with occasional tasks for the Department of Conference Services as needed.

Qualifications:

  • must be a Trinity Washington University student and registered for the 2023 Fall Semester;
  • must be able to dedicate a minimum of 10 hours a week to Conference Services and be eligible for Federal Work-Study;
  • experience working within a public-service-oriented environment is encouraged;
  • must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially with telephone etiquette;
  • ability to react and respond to urgent situations;
  • able to work under pressure, adjust to changes while maintaining great attention to detail, and have the ability to multitask;
  • must have the ability to exercise discretion, independent judgment, and prioritize assignments with minimal supervision
  • must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, Google Drive is a plus;
  • knowledge of the city and its various transportation systems is helpful;
  • living on campus or within 10-15 minutes of campus is strongly preferred;
  • must be able to promote departmental and University policies, represent the University, Housing & Residential Services, and Conference Services departments to guests in a positive and supportive manner;
  • how diplomacy while working with individuals from many backgrounds and of all ages;
  • ability to complete occasional physical tasks related to events and therefore be able to lift up to 50 pounds;
  • must be available to work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays (will work around class schedule).

August 2023, to December 2023
