Office of the General Counsel

Mission Statement

The Office of the General Counsel (OGC) seeks to support Trinity’s commitment to liberal learning and professional preparation by providing legal counsel on a variety of subjects to colleagues throughout the University.  Established in 2011, the OGC strives to advance the work of the University by helping it navigate the many legal aspects of teaching, administration and campus life.

What We Do

The OGC advises on federal and local regulations, compliance matters, employment law, contract review and policy statements and procedures.  It also manages litigation and administrative proceedings by partnering as needed with outside counsel on more complex matters.  The OGC provides advice to staff and faculty and, if needed, to the Board of Trustees.  The General Counsel reports directly to the President.

Since the General Counsel is the lawyer for the University, the office is unable to give advice to individuals about personal legal matters, or regarding issues that may be adverse to the interests of the University.  Please see the list of agencies that may be able to assist with some common personal legal questions under the Frequently Asked Questions page.
