Philosophy
Our philosophies guide our thoughts, actions, beliefs, values, and morals. Without a basic philosophy of life, ethical and moral foundations are not built. It is the duty of the nurse educator to participate in the learning process as merely a guide to help others learn. Both the teacher and the student must be willing to be active in the learning process. The professor is merely there to guide the conversation, not to be the sole messenger. Facilitating learning and critical thinking is the most important competency skill a nurse educator must have. Using interactive learning strategies along with self-directed learning will help produce a well-rounded student nurse and future RN.
