Trinity’s graduate certificates are stackable credentials that can advance your career and put you a step closer to earning a degree. All coursework can apply towards a Master’s degree at Trinity. Courses are taught by faculty with extensive experience in education and are designed to provide you with the content knowledge and skills needed to take on leadership roles and enhance education opportunities for students at every level.
Trinity’s Master of Arts in Teaching (M.A.T.) is a 36-credit hour program that offers four specialization areas that meet D.C.’s certification requirements for teacher licensure, which is reciprocal with most states:
- Early Childhood Education
- Elementary Education
- Secondary Education
- Special Education
Inclusive Education Dual Licensure
The Trinity School of Education offers the first and only dual licensure MAT program in the District of Columbia. MAT candidates seeking a dual licensure will receive licensure in their primary focus area AND special education. This option requires candidates to take four courses in special education in addition to their course sequence in their primary focus area in early childhood education, elementary education or secondary education. Successful completion of a teacher education academic program at Trinity Washington University will meet the education requirements necessary to pursue initial teacher licensure in the District of Columbia and most states in which a student intends to practice. Advanced Degrees in Curriculum & Instruction
Trinity’s Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction (M.Ed.) is designed for educators and education professionals who are passionate about transforming schools, school systems, and education programs. This degree prepares education personnel for leadership roles that include increased responsibilities in research, instructional design, and program evaluation.
The Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction program is a 36-credit hour program. Students have the opportunity to focus their program of study by choosing one of three concentrations: Social Justice, Literacy and Reading Education, and Education Policy and Leadership.
Trinity’s Master of Science in Administration (M.S.A.) in education administration prepares graduate students for a leadership position in an elementary, middle or high-school level. The 36-credit hour master’s program in educational administration offers two track options: Educational Administration and Education Administration with a Specialization in Early Childhood Education.
Successful completion of the educational administration program at Trinity Washington University will meet the education requirements necessary to pursue the Administrative Services Credential in the District of Columbia and certification in most states in which a student intends to practice.
