Letter to the Senior Class from the Dean of Students

September 1, 2010

Dear Trinity Senior:

Trinity is preparing to formally welcome the Gold Class of 2011 to senior status during Cap and Gown Weekend, September 25–26, 2010. Please note that only seniors in good standing are eligible to participate in the Cap and Gown Ceremony. Students on probation will be considered ineligible. If you are uncertain of your academic status or eligibility to participate, please contact Enrollment Services.

On Friday, September 24, 2010, seniors should come to rehearsal at 5:30 p.m. in Social Hall.  The yearbook staff has arranged to have a photographer from 3 to 7 p.m. for senior portraits in the Rose Parlor. This means that you should bring your cap and gown with you to Trinity on Friday if you wish to take senior portraits.

On Saturday, September 25, 2010, the Cap and Gown Convocation will begin at 5 p.m. in the Trinity Center. Refugee advocate Renee Wolforth ’98 will be the keynote speaker. Robing for the seniors will take place at 4:30 p.m. in Social Hall.  There will be a President’s Reception immediately following the Convocation in the Trinity Center.

Sunday’s activities begin with the Cap and Gown Mass at 10 a.m. in the Trinity Center (Notre Dame Chapel is undergoing repairs). The seniors will robe at 9:15 a.m. in Social Hall.  A brunch for seniors, their families, their guests, and faculty will be served in Alumnae Hall immediately after the Mass. The traditional courtyard sing begins at 12:30 p.m. and each class will gather on a designated side of Seymour Court and sing songs to the Senior Class. Families and friends are invited to enjoy the celebration.

Complete the online RSVP form for the President’s Reception on Saturday and the Senior Brunch on Sunday by Wednesday, September 22, 2010. The cost of Brunch for guests is $10 per person and payment should be brought to the Dean of Student Services Offices, Main 223. Make your check payable to Trinity.

Caps and gowns must be purchased from the Bookstore. Sale dates for Caps and Gowns are as follows: Thursday, Sept 16, from 12 noon to 6:30 p.m. and Friday, Sept 17, from 12 noon to 6:30 pm. The regalia includes cap, gown and a green tassel for this special celebration; the regalia costs $26.50.

I hope that you and your family will be able to join us for these very special occasions. If you have any questions concerning these events, please feel free to call my office (202) 884-9611. I look forward to celebrating with you. Congratulations!

Sincerely,
