Tracy Kachur, Ph.D., Dean of the School of Professional and Graduate Studies

Dr. Tracy Kachur joined Trinity in Fall 2021 as the Dean of Professional and Graduate Studies. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Secondary German Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, a master’s degree in German Languages and Literature from the State University of New York at Buffalo, and a Juris Doctor from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Law. In addition, Dr. Kachur was a practicing attorney for ten years in state and federal courts in Buffalo, New York.

She earned a Ph.D. in Educational Research and Policy Analysis from North Carolina State University, where she concentrated in Adult, Workforce, and Continuing Professional Education. Her dissertation focused on the experiences of postsecondary adult learners at a community college with an ongoing student success culture. She has published and presented research on best practices for teaching and advising postsecondary adult learners within the current student success paradigm, creating adult learner-friendly/focused (ALFI) environments, intergenerational learning, and professional development training for higher education leadership.

Dr. Kachur has spent a significant portion of her higher education career as a professor and department chair for undergraduate paralegal and business students in Buffalo, New York, and Raleigh, North Carolina. She has also taught undergraduate writing, critical thinking, and freshman experience courses. Her interest in postsecondary adult learners arose out of the many rewarding experiences she encountered teaching postsecondary adult learners and their passion for reaching their goals. Her goal is to promote the visibility of adult learners within the Professional and Graduate Studies and creating a learning environment that highlights their valuable contributions to the Trinity community.
