Weekly Recap: Basketball Wraps Up Season, While Tiger Softball and Tennis Picks Up!

WASHINGTON DC— Trinity Washington University wrapped up its 2019-20 basketball season last week with two contests against Christendom College. On February 18th, The Tigers came up short falling 24-45 to the Crusaders. At the season’s end and short-handed with only six players, Coach Johnson made small victories for his Tigers the center of their focus for their final games. The Tigers were able to hold this team to under 50 points: They were only able to hold one other team under 50 this season. Trinity forced Christendom to only shoot 31% from the field. Davia Cain led the Tigers with a double-double: 16 points and 12 rebounds. This marked Cain’s 5th double-double of the season. Mazia Donald chipped in with 8 points and 7 rebounds. On the 20th, the Tigers traveled to Front Royal, Va for a rematch and fell to the Crusaders despite an early rally in the first quarter. Mazia Donald led the Tigers with 10 points and 5 rebounds. Davia Cain came up big with 14 rebounds and 9 points. Heaven Thomas chipped in 2 points. Both teams shot under 30% from the field. Annie McGraw led the Crusaders to their victory with 23 points. This week in Tiger news, softball and tennis are one week closer to the start of their season and we can hardly wait! Each team will have their official team meeting on Tuesday, February 25 where players will be introduced to the athletic staff, receive information about NCAA compliance and game schedules, and fill out player questionnaires. On Thursday both teams will have media day in the Trinity Gymnasium. Players will dress down in their uniforms for the first time this year and have their pictures taken. They’ll also be able to shed light on their mindsets and goals for this season to the Trinity Tiger fans via our social media. (Twitter/IG: TrinityDCTigers)

Trinity athletics will wrap up the month of February with a student vs. staff volleyball game presented by Trinity’s SAAC. The game will be held in the Trinity Gymnasium at 6:30 PM.
