Marjorie Knapp "Susie" O'Brien

Susie (Marjorie) K. O’Brien, 87, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 22, 2018 at Thirwood Place Assisted Living. She was the beloved wife of Robert L. O’Brien, of Barnstable and West Dennis, with whom she shared 61 loving years of marriage.

Born in Akron, Ohio and raised in East Liverpool, OH, she was a daughter of the late Doris and Alphonse Knapp. Susie was a graduate of Mount De Chantal Academy in Wheeling, West Virginia and undergraduate at Trinity College in Washington, DC. Following graduation she worked for IBM in Washington, DC.

She was a student and teacher of the Academy of Lifelong Learning (ALL) at Cape Cod Community College and served on the board of the ALL for several years. She taught her passion, Opera Appreciation, for 16 years. Susie was a Life Member of the West Dennis Yacht Club, West Dennis, MA and former member of the Hyannis Yacht Club. She was also an active member of Astronomy Club of Cape Cod for many years, as well as a board member of the Coast Guard Wives Club in Washington, DC and Boston, MA.
