July 2020 – Why I Support Trinity
Margaret Suzor Dunning ’76

We asked Trinity alumna, Margaret Suzor Dunning (’76), why she supports Trinity and why it’s important for others to do the same.  Margaret is a Trinity Board member and managing partner with Finn Partners, a world leader in marketing and communications.

Margaret gives to Trinity because it “helped to shape me, to guide me and to establish me on a positive and productive path. Donating to Trinity is one way I can express my thanks.”

What excites Margaret most about giving to Trinity is that “it’s important to think about the next generation of path-makers. The current and future generations of Trinity women will be better prepared to right wrongs, advocate for civil justice and fight for equal rights.”

Margaret believes others should give to Trinity because “education can help those most vulnerable navigate challenging times, such as what we are now experiencing. And in my extensive higher education experience, I have never witnessed an institution do more with less than Trinity Washington University. Every dollar you can afford to give will be respected and put to excellent use.”

Why do you give to Trinity?

“I confess, attending a women’s college was not at the top of my list, however I had to follow my father’s strong “recommendation.” In hindsight, it was the right decision. The faculty broadened my horizons in a totally supportive manner, offering me needed guidance. I remember an awakening art history class with Dr. Joan Kinnard, American history with Sister Mary Hayes and engagement with so many other brilliant and caring women. While not immediately evident to me decades ago, Trinity helped to shape me, to guide me and to establish me on a positive and productive path. Donating to Trinity is one way I can express my thanks.”

What excites you most about giving to Trinity?

“As we mark the 100th anniversary of the hard-fought battle for women to have the right to vote, it’s important to think about the next generation of path-makers. The current and future generations of Trinity women will be better prepared to right wrongs, advocate for civil justice and fight for equal rights as a result of the guidance and nurturing they receive from the dedicated administrators, faculty and staff at Trinity.”

Why should others give to Trinity?

“I am a firm believer in the power of education. Those affected the most during the pandemic-induced jobs crisis have been women, young people and low-income workers. Education can help those most vulnerable navigate challenging times, such as what we are now experiencing. And in my extensive higher education experience, I have never witnessed an institution do more with less than Trinity Washington University. Every dollar you can afford to give will be respected and put to excellent use.”
