In celebration of Black History Month, Trinity hosted a special event, “An Evening with Rev. Al Sharpton,” on Thursday, February 20, 2020,   in O’Connor Auditorium.

The Rev. Al Sharpton is a renowned civil rights leader, Baptist minister and political commentator. He is the founder and president of the National Action Network, a major civil rights organization based in Harlem, New York, with more than 110 chapters nationwide. He hosts his own radio talk show, “Keepin’ It Real,” and makes regular guest appearances on cable news television. He is the host of “PoliticsNation” on MSNBC. In 2004, he was a candidate for the Democratic nomination for the U.S. presidential election. Throughout his career, Rev. Al Sharpton has challenged the American political establishment to include all people regardless of race, gender, socio-economic status or beliefs. He recently announced that his new book, “Rise Up: Confronting a Country at the Crossroads,” which will be released in September 2020, will focus on the Obama administration, the 2016 presidential election and the transformation of the GOP under President Trump. His previous publications include his memoir, “Go and Tell Pharaoh,” “Al On America,” “The Rejected Stone: Al Sharpton and the Path to American Leadership.”
